Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on Talk Radio.

As we wind down towards the end of the week seven of lockdown, it is beginning to look like there is an end in sight.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has now hinted very strongly that measures will be put into place this weekend

to allow picnics, small gatherings of groups of friends and family,

and even possibly the opening of pub gardens and cafes. We have patiently waited for the

most part. We have adhered to the government's advice mostly and we have behaved responsibly

almost always to the social distancing instructions and to the restrictions on travel. All of us

apart from Professor Neil Ferguson of course course, and his German girlfriend.

The big question now, will be, can we continue to be responsible, sensible and wise, when it comes

to the relaxing of the rules? Because the big worry that a lot of people have is that once things

do get relaxed, the idiots will take over and life will become unbearably ridiculous once more,

Today's major front-page story has to do with the link between COVID-19 and obesity.

A study by researchers at Glasgow University has discovered that patients with a body mass index of over 30

have a much higher likelihood of needing hospital treatment if they contract the virus.
