Hey, what's going on guys? Welcome back at the Jeremy Scott Fins podcast and radio show coming to you hot this Monday night. And I'm talking about body dysmorphia, body image, muscle dysmorphia, bigorexia, all the terms you want to throw out there. They all essentially mean the same thing. And I'm just piggybacking off of my man B.J. Gador's Instagram posts today. If you guys haven't seen it, check out BJ Gador on Instagram.

He's very honest.

He's very thorough, and he is on point with this. And like I would say, BG is the best at what he does. If you guys don't follow him, please do. And I've told him this numerous times. There would be no Jeremy Scott Fitness without BJ's influence. I'm happy to call him a friend and he is a pioneer in our industry 100%. So with that said, I'm going to touch on this, the whole body image thing for you guys. And the reason we bring it to light, you know, I meet so many beautiful athletic fit way above average, you know, men and women in my business especially. Being here in Scottsdale, a lot of sexy folks walk through our door. I'm just, I'm very blessed to be here. And even with that said over the years, I've seen so many of them exhibit numerous symptoms of, you know, kind of body dysmorphia and body image issues. And many of you guys are saying, well, what the hell is that exactly? And, you know, per my friends of the male clinic, they define it as a basically a body disorder. It's a type of chronic mental illness in which you can't stop thinking about a flaw in your appearance. And that flaw can be minor or imagined. And when you have like a biosemorphia or image disorder, you instantane this kind of obsess over your appearance in the image. And oftentimes for, you know, minutes or even hours per day and it's a real thing I know I think some degree you know we're all a little self-conscious of

1:33.0

certain areas of our body be it our breasts our stomach our arms or legs or butt whatever it is

1:37.8

we all have something we don't love about our bodies and I think that is a normal natural feeling

1:42.7

but we can work on the things we don't like.

1:45.7

But when it becomes an obsession, taking up hours of your day, thinking about it, staring

1:50.2

in the mirror, obsessing over your trouble issues in areas, not wearing or wearing certain

1:54.4

clothes because of it, hiding your flaws or ducking out of pictures, that becomes an unhealthy

1:59.6

habit or more or less a disorder. And the reason I said

2:02.8

because you guys have all done this at some point, you've gotten out of the shower and you've looked

2:06.5

at yourself in the mirror and you've magnified the two or three things you fucking hate about yourself.

2:11.1

Your stomach's too thick, your legs are too wide, your arms are too skinny, your chest isn't

2:15.7

developed enough, your calves suck, whatever it may be.

2:18.6

Shout out to Team High Caves.

2:20.2

And we do this and it almost gives us like this psychosis thing, like where we start to see ourselves for something worse than we really are.

2:28.6

And when you look at something you don't like about yourself and you do it obsessively over the course of weeks and months and years and minutes and hours and hours it becomes this thing in your brain and you're now convinced yourself it's way worse than it even is no matter what you do you really won't be able to change it and I'm here to tell you guys this we're all a little bit crazy and we're all a little bit perfectly fucked up that's just reality that's your gift from God or your parents or whatever you choose to believe in. And I'm telling you guys, you have to love what you have. Love where you are. Love what you're given. And you can work healthily, safely and positively to change those things that you don't love. But at the end of the day, just understand like some things are just gifts and they're yours. and for example, I'll use BJ myself as an example. BJ and I are about the same height.

2:51.2

We're about the same weight. You know, both about 6-2, about 220-ish pounds, depending on how many french fries we eat at one time. And I can, I'm a lot leaner than him on average without trying as hard. And he can build a lot of muscle quicker than I can, if makes sense now we both have gifts in certain ways we both eat the certain way essentially we both have kind of trained her body to be in the same rhythm but I know he has to work hard to be leaner and I know I have to work way harder to build muscle now we always want what we don't have and that's just kind of a part of reality and I'll touch on this the reason I can relate to a lot of you guys out there even more than you realized it because I was you know once like you obsessed with my physical appearance especially that the industry that that I came up in in fitness and grew up and I grew up in the fitness modeling side of it you guys and that's just kind of part of the game you're judged on what you look like really nothing else they don't care if you're a nice person or if you can coach or you can write the content in that arena it's just kind of part of the game. You're judged on what you look like, really nothing else. They don't care if you're a nice person or if you can coach or you can write the content.

4:00.3

And that arena, it's just about what you look like in terms of, you know, when I'm a sponsored athlete, you know, for these major supplement companies when I'm, you know, 24, 25 years old just coming up. it's a tough thing because in that side of the industry and this is so fucked up to say this

3:58.1

you can be fat and still have abs it's a tough thing because in that side of the industry and this is so fucked up to say this

4:14.7

you can be fat and still have abs does that make sense like you can have abs and be out of shape

4:21.6

quote unquote in that side of that in that ecosystem of fitness and that's how fucked up that is
