A few years ago, something happened to my body. All of a sudden, sex started to hurt.

It would start as a slight burn and then pain like something inside of me was ripping.

I tried to ignore it, I tried researching it online, I went to my gynecologist but she was just like

nah lots of women have pain with sex. It'll probably go away. While this was all

happening I hardly told anyone.

But recently, I started talking about it.

And the more I shared, the more I realized just how many people had their own version.

I said to him, well, what is normal?

I do have a fair amount of pay during my cycle, but doesn't every woman?

I mean, a woman having pain to most physicians is, okay, you have pain, sorry.

This has been happening for five months and you didn't tell anybody?

I always felt different.

I always felt like something was wrong with me that I'm selfish

that I'm a bad person and her immediate response was this is normal a lot of women

go through this I'm like I don't think so.

And so I started asking myself, where does knowledge about our bodies even come from?

It still goes back to health care providers.

Don't view women as sexual beings.

They don't understand the role of women's sexuality and their life quality.

The diagnostic criteria are normed off of four-year-old white boys from upper middle-class families.

My mother never talked to me about it.

I didn't have any information to give you. And so when something goes wrong, when we can't get an answer, we are the ones to solve
