Hello, hello sir of the Kim clan? I am Kim. Okay, do people know Kim? They know Kim right? I think sure.

Yeah, yeah I think it's somewhere in the back. I mean I use Bobby Kim often just to let people know. It wasn't as important for me. The Asian American

identity stuff wasn't as important for me until I had children. And then I woke up and then I

realized number one I was Asian.

Yeah, I just remember walking by my first son when he was born which he's 14 now.

So this is a long time ago and I would look into his crib and this is how disconnected I was and I'm not

proud about this okay how detached I was from my race and my heritage was I would walk by my kids crib and be like who is this adorable

little Asian baby that somebody left here because I have a full Asian I have

full Asian children my wife is Asian and I just was, it just didn't click.

I was just like, wow, I have an Asian baby.

And then I was just like, what's wrong with me?

I'm Asian.

And then that was the, there was like this turning point where up

until then I actually didn't really it wasn't as forward facing I didn't do a lot of

photo shoots I tried the first few years of the brand, my partner Ben and I, we didn't even show our face.

I just didn't want it to be a factor and that was probably because I had internalized just like the

understanding that there weren't a lot of Korean American owners or founders or

influencers.

I think there was a lot of people in your generation

of Asian American creatives, musicians, entertainers
