You'll hear people say, well, money won't make you happy.

That's an absurd statement.

It was never meant to make you happy.

It was meant to make you comfortable.

When somebody says, you know, money's not going to make you happy.

Say, really?

And you know that you cannot drive around town in a refrigerator. Trader.

It's one of my favorite Bob Proctor talks.

I'm going to kind of disagree with the first part.

I don't think like we should look to money to make us happier,

but I will admit that there is research

showing that up into a certain income level, money does actually make people happier.

Because when you think about it, a lot of the things that make people unhappy are related

to money. Can't pay the rent, can't pay the mortgage, you know, can't pay the bills, food is

too expensive. So people are unhappy about those things. If you remove those things by having more money, you tend to be much happier, right? Now, the second half of the talk where he's talking about this quote, how it's not possible to live a really complete and successful life unless one is rich. I was in the room for that and we had this discussion at the table. And, you know, in the beginning, you know, the first time I heard this quote, I strongly disagreed with it. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it is true. Because things cost money. If you want to develop your skills, it's going to cost money. You want to travel and see the world,

it's going to cost money. If you want to be in a happy marriage, it's going to cost money.
