Here with Bob Myers on what is a somber day around these NBA finals here in Dallas,

the passing of the legendary Jerry West, the logo, one of the greatest figures simply in the history of the game of basketball at West Virginia

with the United States Olympic team, an illustrious career with the Lakers, and then a whole second

Hall of Fame career as an NBA executive.

Bob, you had a unique perspective and a unique relationship with Jerry.

You knew him as a young man and then later on, and we'll start there.

When you took over as the GM of the Golden State Warriors, Jerry came in at that time as a special advisor, a consultant

to Joe Lacob and you.

What was that like to walk in the door and to into this job that was new to you?

You had been a player agent and to have Jerry West with you and watching.

Yeah.

Well, we got to back up to answer that question.

If I hadn't known him, Woge, I'd be giving you a different answer, but I'll give you the

answer that was what happened with me.

I met him at a barbecue when I was probably 22 or three at Arndtellum's house in Pacific Palisades.

He would always wear these kind of cool sweaters.

He was so classy.

You know, he always looked kind of presidential in a way.

Never a T-shirt just hanging out.

No, no, no, no, no. I can't picture him in that.

Never unkept.
