About 14 hours after Kyle Tucker goes to the Dodgers, the Mets pivot and sign Bo Bichette to a three-year,

$126 million deal that includes opt-outs after the first and second season's no deferrals.

Very similar deal to what Alex Bregman just signed last off-season.

And it's so interesting to me that these, frankly, stud players are settling for these short-term contracts. It has worked out well for, you know, Bregman this off-season and Matt Chapman and Blake

Snell in the past. Maybe this looming lockout has influenced the market, but it still seems

kind of weird to me that, you know, players like Tucker and Bobichette are signing these short-term deals.

But in the long run, it still could work out for them.

Let's get into the fit here.

It's $42 million a year, Frank.

It is a lot of money.

I think this off-season has gone off the rails when Bobichette is now making $42 million a year.

I like Bo Bichette, but that is,

that is an all-time kind of annual salary.

And it's a unnatural fit for the Mets, too, in a few different ways.

Yeah, and we'll talk about exactly that.

First up defensively, Boba Chet is going to primarily play third base for the New York

Mets here, a position he has never played before. The metrics with him at shortstop have not been
