Summary

He may have two La Liga titles, a Copa Del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup to his name, but privately at least, Philippe Coutinho must have regrets at the way his move from Liverpool to Barcelona has worked out. But while the man Reds fans affectionately dubbed the Little Magician has struggled in Catalonia, back on Merseyside his former club have gone from strength to strength, a rapid and significant improvement that culminated in the triumphant Champions League campaign, which of course, included that famous semi-final success over Coutinho’s Barcelona. To all intents and purposes, Liverpool have moved on from the Brazil international, but if the comments made by his agent Kia Joorabchian are anything to go by, Coutinho hasn’t quite moved on from Liverpool. So much so that if the 27-year-old does indeed call time on his 18-month stay with Barcelona this summer, the Reds would be his only destination of choice if he was to return to the Premier League. But do Liverpool need him? Would he be welcomed back? And where would he fit into Jurgen Klopp’s system? A poll on the ECHO website asking readers whether they’d like to see Coutinho back at Anfield has so far attracted more than 50,000 votes. Interestingly, and overwhelmingly, 68% of the people who voted want him back. So with that in mind, we sat down for a very special Blood Red podcast, hosted by Sean Bradbury, and featuring Paul Gorst, Connor Dunn and Dan Kay, to answer those aforementioned questions and more. It's the Transfer Saga really that is lingering over this summer if one could be said to be doing such.

His name's been splashed on a lot of sports pages, a lot of

websites over the last few weeks. Where will he end up could a possible return to

0:27.8

Liverpool be on the cards? And tapping into this interest, we ran a poll on

0:32.2

the echoes like blog yesterday.

0:34.0

I have to say the response was quite overwhelming.

0:35.7

So far, there have been around 50,000 people who've taken it, which clearly shows the

0:40.7

significant strength of feeling regarding Katino and his future and response surprised me really in terms of the

0:46.1

outcome because we'll often get a bit of kickback on our social media when it comes to

0:49.6

Philippe. We do a fair few stories on him and a lot of people say the clubs moved on you should forget about him which obviously is understandable to a certain extent but in this poll

0:58.3

68% of respondents so far said yes bring him home

1:01.7

21% have said no way he made his bed

1:04.1

wouldn't want him back and 11% said they don't care which again is entirely fair

enough. His agent has been busy in the media in recent days and at the very least

1:12.0

appears to be laying the ground for

1:13.2

Katino was inclined to leave Barse and he seemingly is increasingly mentioning

1:17.6

Liverpool every time he does appear on tell you or in the media so I think it's legitimate

1:21.4

that we have this discussion.
