Hello and welcome to the latest Blood Red Podcast from the Liverpool Echo. I'm Matt Addison with Ian Doyle and

Theo Squires alongside me. We'll be talking the F. A cup, transfers, Tiago Alkantara,

Zerrantiary and Seth Vandenberg shortly. But we'll begin in with Aston Villa who were defeated, or certainly a version of Aston Villa.

We're defeated by four goals to one on Friday night.

We probably didn't learn too much about Liverpool, but I suppose the win, if you want to call it that,

was without injuries and it was probably as close to a win as possible

for Liverpool given the opposition they were playing. No, they won and that's all the mad and nobody got injured as you said.

So other than there was that mild, what was it about 15 minutes where people were slightly concerned but really even Aston Villa was

saying we know quite well we've got no chance of winning this game I think was

Louis Barry got interviewed afterwards did he said for about five or ten minutes to be like

oh hang on we could get something out of this.

Then obviously Liverpool's great fitness and experience toll, but it was just a game that I think

everybody just had to get through.

Villa obviously benefited in the sense that their youngsters will have gained from the experience.

I mean, one of the players was 16 and one of them was not long, just turned 17, so it was a good game for them. It turns for for Liverpool. You say we didn't learn a lot. We learned Tiago's quite good at football, but we already knew that. We also learned that

Jikiri is good at the old assists, but otherwise he was just one to just get through,

and Liverpool got the job done.

I don't think anybody's particularly criticizing them.

There wasn't anything they could do about it.

The very interesting thing for me really is that

Liverpool obviously this season I think that decided to take the FAA up a little bit more seriously
