The US Secretary of State

Anthony Blincken has urged Israel to do more to protect civilians if it restarts its

attacks on Gaza after Thursday's release of hostages.

Delegates at the UN's Climate Summit have agreed to start paying millions of dollars to countries

hit by natural disasters that are linked to global warming, and a court in New York has reimposed a gagging order

on Donald Trump banning him from criticizing court officials in his civil fraud trial.

We begin in the Middle East where the US Secretary of State has warned that Israel

must take effective steps to ensure the protection of civilians in Gaza before it restarts its military operations there.

Anthony Blinkin, who's on another visit to the region,

outlines to reporters at a press conference in Tel Aviv

the measures he was calling for.

That means taking more effective steps to protect the lives of civilians, including by clearly

and precisely designating areas and places in southern and central Gaza, where they can be safe and out of the line of fire.

It means avoiding further significant displacement of civilians inside of Gaza.

It means avoiding damage to life-critical infrastructure, like hospitals, like power stations,

like water facilities.

And it means giving civilians who have been displaced to southern Gaza the choice to return

to the north as soon as conditions permit.
