Many Japanese men and women eagerly embraced the love of Jesus and they

were called Kirishitan. At the hands of powerful warlords, these people suffered enormously

for their newfound faith. And in their time of need, God heard their prayers for a shepherd

and brought them a brave priest.

Thomas stood at the bow of the boat.

The wind combed through his long black beard, his sword hung at his
