I woke up this morning because I fell asleep at a reasonable time last night, and I saw the news.

I saw the news that Blake Snell had signed a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He's making $36.5 million a year.

And yes, a lot of it is deferred.

So there are two discussions around the Blake Snell signing.

There's the deferred money and this is unfair and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Honestly, the LA Dodgers are doing a marvelous job of signing guys to big contracts and deferring a lot of the money.

Every team can do it. Teams have done it. Now, they haven't done it to the lot of the money, every team can do it.

Teams have done it.

Now, they haven't done it to the level of the LA Dodgers, but I actually commend them for

circumventing the AAV the way they have without boring you with specifics.

Evil Empire.

They are an evil empire, but anybody can do it.

Why don't they, by the way?

Maybe they'll start.

Maybe this is like a thing, because the Nationals used to defer a lot of money to.

The Mets have deferred money, but the Dodgers have done it at a very high level with Otani and Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.

They're doing a little bit of it with Blake's now.

And I think other teams will follow. And I guess it's the outlay of cash.
