It's a real gift. This is the first of a two-part series on biblical poetry, which, as you'll find out

in this episode, has been an area of significant research

in the last 40 years ago, if any of you have tracked that. About 27% of the Bible is poetry,

so it's worth grappling with how to interpret, make sense of, and enjoy biblical poetry.

I want to welcome Jay Blake Cui to OnScript. Blake is Associate Professor in Religion at Gustavis Adolphus College in Minnesota. He's the author of reading the poetry of

First Isaiah, the most perfect model of the prophetic poetry published by Oxford University Press

in 2015. And Blake has also written a number of scholarly articles on this subject and others.
