| 1:03.8 | Now, essentially what we're doing over the next four weeks is we're going to be celebrating so much about one of the most beloved genres in video game history. |
| 2:34.8 | And that is going to be interviews, it's going to be giveaways. Even live streams. Lots of live streams are going to be playing these games as well. All the backsmen, you know, I love adventure games. Oh, totally. That was all that kept me indoors when I was a kid. You know, I was either out skateboarding or playing point and clicks. Now, this week we've got an amazing guest as well. We've got the founder of Westwood Studios. Oh my God, Westwood Studios. You do not know how much of my life was soaked up by Command and Conquer. It was ridiculous. But also, some of the fantastic games, Dune. Yeah. Do you remember that? And that was all based on a novel, and they had the amazing Blade Runner as well, which is probably one of the most accurate, best film adaptations. Yeah, because I mean, back then, a lot of film adaptations were essentially side-scrolling platforms, weren't they? With, like, the name, had nothing to do with it. But Blade Runner, I mean, that was a cult classic. Harrison Ford movie, obviously, and adapting that into a video game that was as well received. I mean, you know, cult audiences are very hard to win round if you don't do it properly. Totally. And, you know, Westwood kind of came from the days of doing dungeon crawlers and, you know, really, really Apple II graphics and stuff like that. And then they went to full FMVs with Hollywood actors. Oh, it's an amazing story. Yeah, I mean, by the end, their games are coming out on like four or five CD-ROMs, weren't they? It was like crazy. So our special guest this week, Lewis Castle is going to be coming up, and we've got more, if you love adventure games. Make sure you stick around in the next 10 minutes, a chance to win something amazing. Now plenty of other things to talk about on this week's show the Atari jaguar virtual reality headset |
| 2:39.6 | oh yes we had a jaguar guest on uh two weeks ago bill rebecca yeah and there's actually been a |
| 2:45.6 | VR headset that has arrived in the UK and that we're going to tell you where it is and also get a |
| 2:50.3 | little bit of the story on that it's going to be interesting. And also a lost Nintendo console that we need to talk about in just a minute too. Now, before we get into that, let's do a few shouts to our favourite people in the world, the people who allow us to keep coming and doing the retro at our podcast for you every single week. Those who make a little donation into the running of the show and throw a couple of quid, a couple of dollars, couple of euros into our tip jar. And for doing that, you will find your place on the Retro Hour Hall of Fame. Just like this week, Andy Gordon. Jonas Tollienda. Kevin Lee. And Carol Chmist, who all made donations into the running of the show |
