A top story so far. Chinese main video game, Blacksmith Wu Kong,

was being played by 2.2 million concurrent players on online gaming platform steam a day after its release.

The game developed by Game Science, a startup backed by Tencent, is a single-player title based on

a mythical monkey king from a Chinese literary classic who can shape shift into humans, animals, and inanimate objects.

Word is says the Chinese state media threw its weight behind China's most successful single-player video game to date, noting that its adaptation

of the Ming Dynasty novel Journey to the West would force Western players to learn more about

the Asian nation's culture. According to City, the title's pre-sales began in June and had reached

400 million U-WAN, about 56 million dollars, as of Tuesday when the game was

launched. Blackmouth Wukon generated over 2.1 million concurrent players on steam on its global launch on Tuesday.

This exceeded the popularity of other heighted single-player titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Raine, Bloomberg reported, citing data tracker Steam DB.

In the past few months, several major games have been launched, including Ten cents,

Dungeon and Fighter Mobile, or DNF Mobile, NetEase's Naraka, Blade Point Mobile, and Mahoyo's Endless Zone Zero.

On the economic front, the payroll's benchmark was revised down by 818,000 jobs, or 0.5% for March 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said.

That's down about 68,000 per month.
