Okay, so this week we are going to be talking about the mysterious and unexplained Wall Street crash of 1987.

We've been doing these episodes that are breakdowns and takedowns of money media and I wanted to talk to our guest journalist, Serees Castle, all about the TV show Black Monday, which is a show on showtime.

That ran for a few seasons, I think three seasons, and it is about a black owned investment group that is working on Wall Street in the late 1980s.

And it's based around the real life crash of the global market in 1987.

As I say in this discussion with Serees, we tend to think of the 1980s as a very prosperous time for the stock market, but actually there is a very little known little talked about crash that happened in 1987 and it really affected not just the US, although it affected the US less than the larger global markets.

And some countries have never recovered from it. There is to this day no succinct explanation for what happened. So Serees and I are going to get into some theories.

We're going to get into how the crashes portrayed in the show Black Monday. We're going to get into how women and Black people are portrayed in the show and what their real experiences were like on Wall Street during the time.

Serees and I are also going to get into some stuff you absolutely should know about in terms of our history and the history of money, including freeway, Rick Ross and the crack epidemic and Gary Webbs reporting on all of that.

Also, we're going to be talking about the Iran Contra affair, the war on drugs and everything that was going down at the time around this market crash.

We'll get into some theories as to why it happened and we'll talk about the long term repercussions. So if you've never heard of the 1987 Wall Street and global market crash, buckle up because Serees and I are going to get into it.
