And so part of what we want to do right now is just invite our listeners to go to the many, many amazing resources that are out there. Like white accomplices dot org or M for BL dot org to learn more about ways that we can to use the language offered to us become accomplices rather than just allies.

But right now what matters most is the feelings and the experience of black people and what they're asking us to do is to step up and take action.

It doesn't all need to be on the street. We can find ways to chalk outside our home. We can talk to our family members. We can donate money. We can support people who are protesting.

1:44.0

We can do all sorts of things that help move our country towards systemic justice. And so for those of you who are black or people of color who've been listening to the show.

1:55.0

I thank you for bearing with us. I know we struggle sometimes to articulate ourselves well. But being perfect is the enemy of the good. And I know all of us are stepping forward to do the best we can to support this movement right now.

2:07.0

So thank you for doing that. And during moments like these in treating Harry Potter as a sacred text. We always try and turn to the text to find something in it that can help us. And I think Vanessa has found a really beautiful moment for us to read.

2:22.0

If you'll bear with me, it's sort of a longer passage, but it's this is in the moment in the Deathly Hallows when we first hear lead Jordan's amazing radio show that he is offering during an incredibly difficult race war that is happening in the Wizarding world.

2:39.0

And I'll start here.

2:41.0

Thank you said, Lee's voice. And now we turn to regular contributor Royal for an update on how the new Wizarding order is affecting the Muggle world.

2:51.0

Thanks, River, said an unmistakable voice. Deep, measured, reassuring Kingsley burst out Ron. We know said Hermione, hushing him.

3:03.0

Muggles remain ignorant of the source of their suffering as they continue to sustain heavy casualties said Kingsley.

3:11.0

However, we continue to hear truly inspirational stories of wizards and witches risking their own safety to protect Muggle friends and neighbors often without the Muggles knowledge.

3:24.0

I'd like to appeal to all of our listeners to emulate their example, perhaps by casting a protective charm over any Muggle dwelling in your street.

3:35.0

Many lives could be saved if such simple measures are taken. And what would you say, Royal, to those listeners who reply that in these dangerous times it should be wizards first asked Lee?

3:48.0

I'd say that it's one short step from wizards first to pure bloods first and then to death eaters replied Kingsley.

3:57.0

We're all human, aren't we? Every human life is worth the same and worth saving.

4:05.0

And so Caspar, I thought that we could just dive into this passage for a minute because there are several things I love about it.

4:13.0

I think he beautifully offers a testimony to people who are out there on the streets risking their lives and are saying that there are small things you can do that are going to make a difference I invite you to go out onto the streets and be brave like them.
