Very good morning to you. It's three minutes after ten, and well, on it goes, eh? You know,

when I have the pleasure of talking to you

every morning at 10 o'clock I generally like to come up with a few questions that encapsulate where

we are or that at least allow us on a really good day I'd like to think that we can provide

windows onto worlds that many of us don't see outside of our own homes. But right now, what would

the question be? Where would it go? Where would you start? Leaving aside the almost apocalyptic

scenes in America for the time being, we will be returning there later today. But focusing

for now on these islands, where would you start now? Would you start with

the Association of Directors of Public Health saying that new rules in England were not

supported by the science? That pictures of crowded beaches and beauty spots show that, and I quote,

the public is not keeping to social distancing as it was. Would you start with the fact that,

as you just heard in the news bulletins there, roughly half of the families able to send their children back to school today are

probably not going to. And frankly, who can blame them? You don't have to pick aside in these

battles. You can feel sympathy and support for teachers and feel sympathy and support for

children and feel sympathy and support for children and feel sympathy and support for

parents. Children in particular are presumably increasingly struggling just to deal with the unprecedented

nature of this whole period. And if you could get them back to school safely and with confidence,

I think every parent in the land probably would.

But when the science says no, and the politicians say yes, well, how quickly we've moved,

over the space of eight or nine weeks from the politicians telling us that they were doing what the science says, to the science saying, don't do what the politicians do.
