Mutilating a victim takes the act of murder to darken towering new heights.

Decapitation, forcibly and violently severing the head from the body is the ultimate act

of depersonalization.

Detaching the brain from the spinal column is severing the very organ that makes us

genuinely individual.

Disconnecting the nerves that run through the neck, carrying the vital information that

makes us human, enables our body to move, links our minds to our physical presence.

It removes any shred of dignity from a victim.

Their face, their features, their personality, gone.

The determination and viciousness of a killer to mutilate their victim in this way demonstrates

a level of depravity that goes beyond comprehension.

Evil is a concept that can be difficult to define.

But this, an act of brutal violence inflicted upon another human being way over and above

any necessity to take life, is a very characterization of evil.

When immutilated into a capitated victim is found, the individual capable of such evil

takes on his own image in people's minds.

But once in a while, the reality behind that image is more shocking and more horrifying

than anyone could have prepared for.

In December 2016, in the city of Lawrence, Massachusetts, the beautiful Maramaque river

that runs through the city became the scene of unforeseen horror.

A headless corpse with both hands also missing was found on the riverbank, discarded, undignified,

and alone. The body had laid there for 13 days before being discovered.
