• Dr. E.J. Antoni—Research Fellow in The Heritage Foundation’s Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to recap Black Friday shopping trends. According to the National Retail Federation estimates, 182 million people are expected to take advantage of holiday sales taking place between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. While spending has been strong, an alarming number of purchases have been made on credit. Dr. Antoni writes: “While retailers are enticing customers with the usual Black Friday deals, many Americans don’t have the cash to afford even what’s on sale. They’ll be borrowing to do their Christmas shopping, at a time when credit-card interest rates are at a record high and delinquencies are rising at the fastest rate in over a decade. • In a recent segment featured on CNN, reporter Nathaniel Meyersohn seemingly blamed the economically devastating rise in shoplifting on honest mistakes made at self-checkout lanes and is not related to relaxed prosecution for stolen items in many of America’s major cities.
• During Monday’s White House Press briefing, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby was asked of the likelihood that American hostages would be released by Hamas “in the next few days.” Kirby responded, “we certainly hope so…we don’t really know.”
• While appearing on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH) alarmingly noted that as of now the Biden Administration can’t definitively determine that all American hostages being held by Hamas are still alive.
