"Strange Fruit - There Is No Revolution Without Economics"

The recent deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile bring to mind the lynching's that we had to endure for hundreds of years. Billie Holiday sang a beautiful song in 1939 about"strange fruit' hanging from the trees. That fruit was Black men. It's "open season" on Black men and we have to understand the rules and recognize the playing field we are on. In order for us to make change we have to build our economic base, our political base, and spearhead social reform. Join Jay as he "goes in" on the recent murders of two innocent Black men.

1:36.5	heard the song by billy holiday called strange fruit it just talks about how lynchings and we're the fruit on the trees back when they used to lynch us.
1:47.4	I believe the song was first sung in 1939 when a whole lot of that stuff had still been going on.
1:55.5	And it's a very deep song.
1:57.4	And at the end of today's show, I'm actually going to play the song.
