0:26.3	He was a leading member in the Communist Party USA back in its heyday.
0:34.3	He visited both Soviet Union and Mao's China.
0:38.3	Towards the end of his life he was an anti-revisionist ML learning from the experience of the Chinese
0:44.7	revolution specifically.
0:46.3	Harry Haywood fought in both World Wars and was actually a part of the international brigades.
0:51.1	The Abe Blinken brigades that went to fight Franco and the fascist and the Spanish Civil War.
0:56.2	He was also born in South Omaha.
0:58.2	I too was born and raised in South Omaha and in fact Harry Haywood's childhood home is only
1:03.9	a few miles from my childhood home which adds an extra layer of personal interest for me.
1:09.8	Malcolm X as many of you know was also born here in Omaha so those connections are interesting
1:14.0	and we talk about Harry Haywood meeting and working with Malcolm X in Harlem in this
1:19.2	episode as well.
1:20.2	He did a lot of great theoretical work and in fact on our sister podcast Red Menace we
