What up, guys. Welcome to the Jiu-Jitsu podcast episode, some number that's large and doesn't matter.

0:06.1

We're here with, well, he's not actually here. He's talking to us remotely, but we'll have William Tackett on the podcast.

0:15.1

And, you know, in the podcast, we sort of forego all the normal.

0:18.5

Tell us about what it's like training with your brother. Like, we kind of don't talk about that much because I figure that's probably what everybody has asked him. And I've also, you know, listen to a few bits of podcasts from him. And that's kind of what everybody talks about. So I imagine you could probably hear that somewhere else. Instead, we kind of get right into both his experiences with the UFC BJJ, because I know there's a lot of hubbub because everybody in the jitzy community likes to get their rash guard in a bunch over anything.

0:45.2

I mean, it's like it doesn't matter what it is.

0:47.3

They're always pissed off about something.

0:48.8

I don't know if that's the jiu jitsu community.

0:50.4

It's part of our culture or if it's just simply a byproduct of people spending way too much time on social media,

0:56.3

maybe a combination of the two.

0:59.5

By the way, you can make massive improvements if you're life, if you just get off of it for a while, just from my bearded experience.

1:06.1

But anyway, we talked to them about the UFCBG because they're doing some neat stuff because a lot of people get hung up on this idea of the exclusive contracts and how bad it is for the fighters.

1:14.8

But he was explaining some stuff that I didn't know about where I was like, oh, totally makes sense why they would.

1:21.3

I mean, if I was a business owner and I was doing all of this for these people, you know, hell yeah, I'm going to want to put it under exclusive contracts. They're investing in that. Far more of an investment than I think they should lead on. And I have no idea why they don't talk about that. That should be something like, hey, we know we're talking about money and this and that, but you know, here's how much we're paying. But by the way, we're doing all this other stuff, right? And then we also talk a lot about specific training because, you know, he comes from originally from smaller gyms. You know, and a lot of times people have this idea that if they want to, if they want to make it to the big show, if they want to get to a world class level, they have to train at a massive big gym that everybody knows about that has all the best people and you know over the

2:02.4

years I've seen that that yes that can be true you know there are amazing coaches that can crank

2:07.8

out people but what I've seen more often than not in which we know we'll kind of talk about this is

2:12.8

that a lot of times you know someone becomes associated with being a good coach and they attract

2:18.8

the winners and they just take them up to another level. You know, like when you look at a lot of big

2:23.8

gyms, a lot of the people are not homegrown. They're not like from start to finish, this was my guy. Some,

2:29.3

some are, but a lot of them are, hey, we had a guy or two or a gal or two do well. I got associated with being a good coach and then a flood comes in. Oh, we're going to train with this guy. We're going to train with this guy. We're going to train with this coach. And so we kind of talk about that and a lot of different tips related to specific training tips that I think are useful, whether you're a young competitor who's wanting to get the most from themselves or just being like a jiu jitzu hobbyist. It trains a few days a week. A lot of it is transferable because I think ultimately at the end of the day, getting good at jiu-jitsu. It's kind of the same thing, no matter what, you're looking towards the same thing.'s some slight differences especially as you get older there's some slight differences but a lot of the

3:09.9

stuff that he's saying is stuff that i sort of talk about in the the podcast and the

3:13.6

youtube's and my email newsletter and everything else so um a useful podcast i believe for anyone

3:19.2

listening and hopefully it's entertaining as well to you big thanks for our sponsor to our sponsors for helping make this thing happen. Athletic Mince, A-T-H-L-E-T-H-C.com is their website. Athletic makes microdose THC mints. They come along with the THC, which is around 2 milligrams, so it's nothing crazy. It's not like that time that you ate the gummy from the one place, funny story. I actually had a guy that came in town once,
