0:00.0 | What up, guys. Welcome to the Chiu-Jitsu podcast. Today we have a guest with us today. We have Chris Wochick. I might be saying that incredibly. I think that's how I've heard it said when I've watched some of his matches. But, you know, sometimes the Eastern European names, we, we, we, Americans, we struggle with it. You know, we look at the end of it. We're like, huh? Like, you know, yours is like TZ. T.S. T.S. Sorry, but, you know, Sozik. |
0:02.8 | Soz. You know, we look at the end of it. We're like, huh? Like, you know, yours is like TZ. |
0:21.3 | T.S. |
0:21.9 | T.S. Sorry. |
0:22.5 | But, you know, sozic. |
0:24.6 | Sozic. |
0:25.0 | But it's like, you know, for an American, you're like T's T.S. Like, what do you do with that? You know, we don't really met. We don't know what to make. A lot of Japanese names, T.S. |
0:18.8 | I feel like they start with. |
0:21.4 | Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. |
0:22.3 | Okay. |
0:22.4 | I've seen some of that, too, which is kind of... |
0:24.3 | But I know of no Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. I've seen some of that too, |
0:38.5 | which is kind of, but I know, I know of no traditional like Anglo-Saxon type names that come from that, you know? Well, you had, I gave you the, the green light. I said, whoa, chick. I think it's whoa chick. I'm pretty sure. So we'll see. We'll see. But anyway, looking forward to this one, you know, up and coming young competitor. |
0:37.0 | I think, you know, he's been in it for a little over, I think close to 10 years is what I read on his website. He's got a website called The Grappler's Diary. I think it's on substack, whatever you can check that out. I'm sure we'll talk about that in a bit. And, you know, on the podcast, stay with him. You know, we'll definitely talk a little bit about his backstory, but, you know, he writes, you know, he's got a grappler, grappler diary, and so he's writing on a regular basis. As someone who writes on a regular basis, you know, sometimes it's fun to talk about that stuff, opposed to going through the podcast and doing your normal, hey, here's how I got started, you know, like the normal song and dance, which is what most of the time we end up doing when you go on a podcast, which nothing wrong with it. We do it all the time. But I figured since the dude has like a ton of stuff out there that to me gets past the superficial stuff that you would have in a podcast. Like it's some fun stuff. So I think we're going to, I'm going to, obviously, we'll talk a little bit about a story. And then we'll get into some of this thoughts, like some of the ones and I, some of these I like sort of relate with. Like, you know, like the ego existing on the mats, like the fact that, you know, we say get get rid of ego but yet everybody has an ego he can't |
2:01.6 | get rid of it there's no getting rid of it you're not buddha talking about avoiding injuries and again |
2:06.9 | he's a young guy who's in a competitive environment trying to compete at the highest level how are you |
2:11.5 | mitigating those you know even if you're not the highest level competitor you can still learn from |
2:15.6 | that some of the sacrifices is made but then also to some of the other stuff like the books he's reading, his writing practice, because again, as a writer, I'm always interested in talking to people that are doing similar stuff and some other things. And so, again, hopefully you guys enjoy this podcast, get something from it. As always, thanks to our sponsors for helping make this podcast happen. Athletic and check it here. |
