Yeah, it was a lot of hard work. I had a tear in my Patel attending that didn't heal particularly well.

Four or five months after my first operation I had done it again and there wasn't really a great deal that the surgeon could do in the

He did say it could take up to two years to fully heal itself, which turned out to be just about right. My contract was up at

Sunderland and it didn't get renewed. I think they probably feared the worst for me at that stage as well and I wouldn't get back.

So yeah I went out on my own and researched it, tried to find the possible treatments that I had already had three new operations on that I could do. I had already had three

new operations on that side, two on the tendons, so that wasn't really a great deal more to be gained by operations.

There was a few exploratory ones that they could have tried something but I didn't want to
