An incident occurred in 1967 where a Peruvian airliner was followed for several hundred miles by a very strange-looking object.

The events that are detailed here can be found in the 1968 book by Jim and Coral Lorenzen, UFOs over the Americas.

The Lorenzans had founded the Aerial Phenomenon Research Organization,

or APRO, back in 1952, to study reports of flying sources. Details of this Peruvian incident

had first appeared in the January, February, 1967 issue of the APRO Bulletin.

An object shaped like an inverted cone pursued a Peruvian airliner for 800 kilometers on

the 4th of February.

According to pilot Osvaldo San Vitti, and confirmed by flight engineer Jorge Santa Maria

Calderon, the object stationed itself above the tail of the aircraft, then joined another

object and finally both disappeared at supersonic speed. The pilot, Osvaldo San Vitti, give his

account of what happened. We were at an altitude of 7,000 feet when suddenly I observed a

luminous object to the right of the plane.

It was starting to darken. The object emitted a bright light and had the shape of an inverted cone.

The object was, more or less, 12 kilometers from our plane, flying at the same speed, at the same

altitude, and in the same direction. I saw it make a series of moves at an incredible speed.
