This weekend, Saturday, the birth of another grandchild. This time,

a baby named Pax Johannes. Johannes actually was the name of my father, or is the name of my father in eternity,

and that's now the middle name of Pax, which means peace.

What an incredible experience to hold a new baby in your hands.

And as I was holding Pax, I was thinking about what the Bible says about birth.

For you created my inmost being.

You knit me together in my mother's womb.

I will praise you because I'm fearfully and wonderfully made.

Your works are wonderful. I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was

made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depth of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.

All the days ordained for me written in your book before even one of them came to be.

How precious are your thoughts, oh God, how vast the sum of them.
