of U.S. Biolabs working on pathogens of dual pandemic potential. This is a big

deal. And I can tell you that our next big pandemic could occur from a lab right here in the United

States. Despite the new Trump administration coming into power, they have done little or nothing to protect Americans against these threats.

Now, dual pandemic potential refers to biological agents and research programs that involve pathogens capable of causing a pandemic and preventing one, depending on how the

knowledge or technology is used.

These programs sit at the intersection of pandemic preparedness and biosecurity risk.

The same research that can produce vaccines or antiviral measures can also inadvertently or

deliberately create more virulent or transmissible versions of existing pathogens.

In the United States, such work falls under a web of research categories called

gain of function research, pathogen enhancement, research of concern, perk, and dual use research of concern, DURC, all of which have drawn

heavy scrutiny due to their possible overlap with bioweapons capabilities.
