Authorities are now investigating how a tiger managed to leap into a terrified crowd at a Russian circus after a barrier collapsed.

Videos of the frightening incident have gone viral on social media.

Two trainers and three tigers are performing inside a performance ring at a circus when the incident occurs.

According to eyewitness footage from the scene, a barrier separating the audience from the animals abruptly

collapsed, allowing one circus tiger to jump over it and into the crowd.

Oh yeah.

Over the loudspeakers, an announcer can be heard saying, dear visitors, please remain calm or you'll

make it worse.

One video shows a tiger moving through the roads.

Yeah. It's just running between the seats of the spectators. They scramble to get away.

In a second video, families with small children watched as a trainer tried to guide the tiger toward an exit.

The investigative committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case in response to the incident.

The statement also reported that miraculously, the tiger did not hurt anyone.

Experts capture the tiger almost immediately and returned it to a secure transport container.

We watched the video. I don't know that almost immediately is quite accurate.

The animal was not acting aggressively. The tiger did not attack anyone. But the very fact that this thing was among the people certainly created panic. The animal, on the contrary, he moved away from the crowd in the opposite direction, just basically acted like he didn't care. But oddly enough, you're right, the people, they did kind of stay calm. But when you look at the video, there's a lot of people that were real little kids, just holding on their lap as his tiger walks by. I don't know. I like that. Stay calm. You'll make it worse. I mean, look, though, I'm with you. Because when I first saw that video, like, you believe they're just sitting there. But also, who knows?
