Mitsky Mayawaki, first self-released two albums as a college student in 2012, 2013,

studying music and college of course, and then finally released a third studio

album when she got out of school bearing me at Make Out Creek in 2014. That created quite a bit of buzz.

She got signed by a really hip indie label, Dead Oceans in 2015, and her subsequent

albums have been on that label. Each one accruing in a claim and sales, culminating

with Laurel Hell in 2022. It seemed like we just reviewed that album a few weeks ago.

It was standout last year, and it's shot to the top 10 in several countries.

It came after a bit of a hiatus she had contemplated maybe even giving up music

between the release of her 2018 album and Laurel Hell. We're really glad she did

decide to pursue that musical career. A song in 2022 was nominated for an Oscar,

actually. This is a life from that film, everything everywhere, all at once.
