Good afternoon everyone.

Today is a special day in the history of Chapman University.

It's a day that the Chapman students who are here in the room will never forget

and it's a day that future Chapman students will speak about with awe and envy.

After all, it is not just every day the two of the greatest music artists in the world,

take the time to come to our campus or really any campus to share their expertise with students.

To them and their team who helped to make this possible, on behalf of all of us at Chapman and

at the Hollywood reporter for which today's gathering is being recorded as a podcast, a truly heartfelt thank you.

Now I could stand up here citing charts and statistics that make the case for why these two

are so remarkable.

For example, their songs have been streamed

and their videos have been played literally billions of times.

She was the first artist born in this millennium

to have a song hit number one on the

Billboard Hot 100. He at just 22 became the youngest ever winner of the

producer of the year Grammy. She became only the second person, the first female

and the youngest person ever at 18

to win all four main Grammy categories, best new artist, record of the year, song of the year,

and album of the year, all in a single year.

He's been nominated for 17 Grammys,

including three that are pending at the moment,
