Crystal, it's a pleasure to have you back.

I couldn't wait to talk to you about the show.

It's so funny, because somebody told me something about you recently that made me laugh out loud,

made you think, of course, which is that you've been reading a lot of Russian literature.

That's right, yeah.

And I thought the last section of crime and punishment of Sonia and Ruskalnikov, when they're away, that's what you're doing, isn't it?

Yeah, yeah. way that's that's what you're doing is yeah yeah all that stuff kind of you read it and you

envision it and you're moved by it and then it kind of lives in you but it's never a conscious thing

of oh let's do this or do that you know it's usually in moments like this like you'll say this

and i'm going to leave and i'm going to call duffy budro the co the co-writer. I'm like, you know what Elvis just said? And he'll go, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,

that's right. But we never talked about it, but we were all kind of reading those books at the same

time. For me, it goes back, you know, right when the show got picked up.

And I said, oh, we're going to do a TV show. I'm laughing because Alec Berg was going to roll his eyes

at this, but I, a co-creator of the show. But he, I had an office at Sony and he was finishing

shooting Silicon Valley.

And I sat in that office and basically just mapped out

a version of a season one of Barry.

And I was really excited about doing it not as a TV show
