| 0:26.3 | There's the obvious answer to be the one person who has the big picture in mind, |
| 0:30.4 | to know how everything interconnects to have a unified vision to share with all the artists, actors, and technicians. |
| 0:37.0 | To know what the movie is from all angles and to be able to |
| 0:45.0 | to articulate it and answer the hundreds of questions that need answers from every direction. But there's an even simpler answer. |
| 0:48.0 | To find, encourage, and allow the best people to do their best work. |

| 0:54.8 | can recruit the best talent available to him or her to inspire them to make them feel |
| 0:59.4 | they're doing something special. I've been lucky to work with some pretty amazing actors and |
| 1:04.4 | artists. They are the heroes, the ones who actually do the heavy lifting, |
| 1:08.5 | actors laying themselves physically bare before the cameras, the cinematographers who weave images with |
| 1:14.7 | light and shadow, the production designers, the composers, the prop builders, the VFX artist. |
| 1:21.2 | But so very often the superstars of the horror genre are the makeup effects artists. |
| 1:26.0 | They make the monsters that inspire our nightmares create creatures that become. |
| 1:33.7 | As great as the computer-generated effects have become, there's something so liberating for an actor |
| 1:38.7 | and a crew to have the actual creatures or their mayhem on the set right there for real reflecting light from its |
| 1:45.8 | slime covered latex interacting with the characters instilling fear in and out of the shadows. |
