Bill writes extensively and so well and is a great guest when we have them on.

So I do want to talk about the two games and then the Super Bowl matchup, but the big news here, Bill, is that Dan Quinn has hired his defensive coordinator,

and he is Durante Jones from Brian Flores' defense in Minnesota.

Do you know much about him?

What do you make of it as the next D.C. here in D.C.

It's a really interesting hire, especially in contrast to, you know, sort of

promotion of David Plow and sort of the, you know, the idea that like you're getting

someone who's had clear success in a defense that's built around the secondary.

I mean, the Vikings have great players up front, no question.

But to run the defense, Brian Flores runs, which is a lot of showing heavy pressure

and then either bringing cover zero and playing man behind or dropping out and playing coverage,

basically doing whatever you can to disguise your post-knap coverage and disconnect that from

the pre-snap look, you have to have defensive backs who are in the right place with the

right time, who can tackle, who can cover a man, who can, you know, play match zone coverages.

And Durant does a really good job with Ryan Fores of getting the most out of the defensive backfield. They've taken a lot of players who were unheralded around the NFL and gotten more out of them than other players. They've been active and sort of, you know, signing free agents for marginal deals. They've not been very aggressive outside of Byron Murphy, who's a good player, but he's gotten better there. But, you know, they've really made the most out of the talent they've had. And that I think is a really promising sign given. You know, there's a lot of things that fell off for Washington in 2025, but I would say the secondary play might have been the biggest

decline maybe from position to position from year to year.

Yeah, I'm looking for something you wrote that I referenced a few weeks back about how

essentially when they lost Dorrance Armstrong in week seven, it was the worst defense in the

NFL from week eight on and it wasn't even close.

And watching it, I forget specifically what numbers you had, but I remember referencing that.
