The Rebels are rapidly approaching kickoff in Columbia — set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Left tackle Jayden Williams is on the wrong side of doubtful with a meniscus injury. A freshly-released injury report this week indicated reinforcements could be on the way, but might not only come from the infirmary.

Ulysses Bentley, IV, entered an expectations-filled 2024-25 season as the SEC’s highest-graded returning running back. The tea leaves seem to indicate he could get more opportunity against the Gamecocks than the precious few snaps he’s played through five games.

Ole Miss could certainly use him.

Actually, the Rebels could just use a win, period. Saturday is as must-win as a game can get, cliche as it is. At worst, it’s inarguably one of the most consequential hinge/swing games for Ole Miss in five seasons under head coach Lane Kiffin.
