Summary

A social worker driving a 15-year-old foster child from Feather County through Lassen National Park encountered an unexpected and surreal event. As they navigated the treacherous mountain pass, the teen requested to play her music, a brief moment of normalcy overshadowed by the fading light and dangerous curves. Suddenly, a massive, jet-black creature—later identified as a Bigfoot—emerged onto the road, forcing the social worker to slam on the brakes and swerve, narrowly avoiding both the beast and a deadly drop. The car skidded to a stop, tires screeching and the air thick with the smell of burning rubber, while a Chevy pickup behind them nearly collided. After the creature vanished into the trees, both the stunned social worker and the profanity-dropping teen, along with the pickup driver, were left questioning reality as they silently continued the journey back to her foster home.

My friends came sprinting back toward me. There was panic written on their faces, and before I could react, a large tree limb swung into my path. It hit me hard and it knocked me to the ground. The impact knocked the wind out of me and I gasped for air as I tried to understand what

of heavy footfalls behind us, and there were snapping branches and the thud of something large

slamming into the trees. There was also a deep laboring panting, like whatever was chasing us

was close.

1:28.8

It was way too close.

1:32.5

Even now I have no idea what it was.

Was it a Bigfoot or some other creature?

I'll never know, but the memory still sends chills down my spine.

Years later, I moved with my mother to another part of northern Georgia, where I now take care of her. One Saturday morning, around 6 a.m., I got up early for work. I was half asleep,

and I threw on my clothes, and I stepped outside to lock the door. Just as I turned the key, a sound pierced the stillness. It wasn't a scream

or an animal's cry. It was a call, one I'd never heard before. The sound was deep and guttural,

and it carried a strange, almost haunting quality, nothing like a human or animal could make.
