Summary

Tonight's guest, Matt, was in a very dark place a few years ago. He had just gone through a divorce and was having a really difficult time dealing with other problems in his life. After putting a lot of thought into his situation, he decided that taking his life was his best option. He didn't want to do that where he lived, so he purchased a plane ticket and flew to North Carolina. Once there, he rented a car and drove to a predetermined location, in the Smokey Mountains. He picked the location because he thought it was going to be a good place where he'd be able to guarantee he'd be alone. Luckily, as fate would have it, he wasn't alone after getting there. After parking his rental car, by a bridge that ran over a river, he walked down a path that lead him under the bridge and then walked upstream until he wasn't in view of the spot where he parked the car. Before he had a chance to do the deed, a commotion erupted from the forest around him...

0:39.6	I've had multiple experiences with all those different things, but we're here for the Sasquatch, right?
0:47.6	So that's what I'm going to jump into.
0:51.6	My very first encounter was back in the summer of 2000.
0:56.6	At the time I was eight years old, and during the summers we used to go to my grandmother's house.
1:04.6	And across the street from her house was this big wildlife preserve that was partially on the intercostal down here in South Florida on the East Coast.
1:16.6	What the intercostal is is where fresh water meets saltwater.
1:21.6	And I know it's approximately 10 to 15 minutes from that location to get straight onto the white sandy beaches.
1:30.6	Florida's known for you know, but nonetheless this is where I had my first encounter.
1:38.6	And when we were kids, we were told to be very careful about going across the street and playing over there and not to go alone.
1:49.6	And me being the curious and rebellious child that I was one day I decided that I was going to go across the street by myself.
2:00.6	So it was a two lane street one car could go each way from where the house was to where the trail started.
2:14.6	And there was an entrance to the trail and it kind of hooked to the right.
2:19.6	You would walk about 10 to 15 feet in with brush on either side.
2:27.6	And you would be on this trail that was about maybe a thousand yards and it went from east to west.
2:35.6	And on the other side of that trail to the north side was the preserve.
