My name is Cameron Butler and this is the What If It's True Podcast and what you're

0:16.8

about to hear are archived audio files that I have done over the years on a podcast

0:23.6

called Dixie Crypted on YouTube. I'm bringing those over and combining both podcasts so that

0:30.2

each podcast has the same stories and the same content. Hope you enjoy it. All right, here we go.

This is a story I did on the Dixie Crypted YouTube podcast back in 2018 or early 2019.

0:52.0

It's such a good story, but the recording was horrible. That was back when I first started the

0:57.2

podcast. I didn't know what I was doing. But I pulled it up. I wanted to re-record it and share it

1:02.7

worked shutdowns at the plant where he was employed. It was always a great way for him to make extra

1:33.4

money for us, and since we never saw him during those times, mom would take us to the cabin,

1:39.5

and we would spend a great amount of time there. She had friends there and so did we and we loved

1:45.9

it. Another reason we loved it was because there was so much for kids to do there. There were a lot

1:52.9

of woods around the area for us to play in. We could build forks and play night games like hide and

1:58.9

seat. We would catch lightning bugs at night and put them in jars to light the tent that we would

2:04.5

sometimes sleep in in the backyard. My favorite thing about staying at the cabin was fishing the

2:11.4

Cutoff. One summer when I was 14 years old, my father gave me a Garcia ambassador bait casting

2:19.5

reel. I thought I was in heaven because now I could bass fish like my dad did. I wanted one for

2:27.0

years and my dad knew it, but he waited to give me one until he knew I could use it properly.

2:34.2

It was no big deal for my brother and I to get in the boat before dawn,
