I'm going to take you on a trip on the way back machine.

The year was 1962.

I'm from a small town outside of Memphis.

Even though it was small, it was also the county seat, and all the businesses surrounded the courthouse,

and the businesses were closed early on a Saturday night.

If you were a young male and did not have a quarter to get into the local movie theater,

you hung out at the Gulf Station just off court square.

One Saturday night I was hanging out there with some older friends when a car drove up to the pumps and it stood there with the engine still running and the car was still in gear.

I looked and it was someone that I knew. He and the girl that was with him were nice kids as far as I was

concerned and both of them were just staring ahead with blank expressions on their faces, and they weren't saying a word.

They looked like they were in shock.

Finally, one of the guys was able to get the driver to snap out of it and turn the car off and to put it in park and tell us what was going on.

He said that they had driven to the Fire Tower Road and parked to have some alone time together,

and when they were ready to leave some alone time together.

And when they were ready to leave, he started the car and put the car in drive,

and the tires just spun. He looked in his rearview mirror

and saw two large red eyes looking back at him.

So he put the car in reverse and he hit whatever it was and then he took off.

But we were all joking with him and saying yeah right sure you did until we went around the back and looked at his bumper

There were deep impressions like two large hands had gripped the bumper and when the girl got out of the car it was obvious that she had wet herself.

A few days later, the fire lookout and the fire tower was working at night when he heard someone climbing the metal ladder leading up to the tower.

He opened the trap door in the floor and he saw a large hairy animal climbing up to him
