Summary

On June 8th, of 1991, tonight’s guest, Darin Richardson, was 16 years old and participating in a civil war reenactment, in the foothills of Mt. Rainier, in Washington State. Close to midnight, Darin walked with his dad back to where his van was parked because that’s where his dad was going to sleep. Darin was planning to sleep in a tent, in the period camp where the other actors planned to sleep. Not long after he’d turned back, to go back to the period camp, he had an experience that was life-altering for him. He had his 1st Sasquatch sighting. The experience motivated him to write two books about Sasquatch and it made him decide to start a Bigfoot-specific podcast. His podcast was called Bigfoot Mystery. Episodes of the show are still available on Blogtalk Radio. His two Bigfoot books are titled, “Bigfoot and I: A Personal Journey into the World of Sasquatch” and “Confessions of a Living Historian: A Decade of the Antics and Misadventures of a Civil War Reenactor.” Amazon links for both books are posted below.

0:00.0	My name is Darren Richardson. I'm a living Eugene, Oregon. I've had experience with the
0:05.6	Bigfoot phenomenon since 1991. Born and raised Eugene, Oregon, had my sight again in 1991,
0:12.3	which got me involved in the whole mess. And then I've been a civil warry and actor for
0:16.6	30 years or so, something like that. I started back in 1991, so do the math. I collect
0:23.2	comic books, I go to comic cons, and I'm a writer, a published author, written two books,
0:28.2	four about, called Bigfoot and I, a personal journey in the world of the Sasquatch, which
0:32.0	details my experiences with the Bigfoot phenomenon. My second book is called The Confessions
0:35.7	of Living a Story, and about my first 10 years as a green actor. I'd loved to write, and
0:40.1	I had a website, a couple websites at one time, but they've kind of fallen. Disrepairings
0:44.4	have been so busy working. And I have a wife and two girls, one's ten and one's twelve.
0:49.4	My wife is the best woman in the whole world. She's not only going to put up with me on
0:53.4	the planet here. I love her so much. My first exposure to the Bigfoot phenomenon was back
1:00.2	in the 70s on television with the, I think the first time I ever saw something Bigfoot
1:04.8	related was the Bigfoot and Wildlife television show. I said Marty Croft on Saturday mornings.
1:09.4	That was, that's the first recollection I have of it. I didn't believe in Bigfoot originally.
1:14.4	I always thought it was a media-generated character because I didn't know about the whole thing
1:18.9	being real. And as I got older and saw the older documentaries, I'm thinking, oh, this
1:24.0	is real. Well, I didn't know it was real. I thought it was just the six million dollar
1:29.6	man's enemy on his show. And I, Bigfoot and Wildlife, I didn't know this was real. So,
1:34.6	I, I wasn't really, didn't think much about the whole phenomenon until I had my sighting.
1:38.4	That all changed on June 8th, 1991. At the time I was sixteen, I was doing a very small
1:46.3	civil war re-enactment in Washington State. The first one I believe that we ever did there.
