Summary

In this episode,Zach Shaw and Steve Lorenz preview the Michigan football team's matchup against Iowa in the Big Ten championship game, offer their predictions and also look ahead to Michigan's role in the transfer portal with the portal window opening Dec. 4.

The first third of the episode is devoted to the biggest keys for Michigan’s offense against a stout, consistent Iowa defense. They look at how the Hawkeyes have been able to stifle opposing offenses all season, and use defense and special teams to win games. They also make predictions for Michigan’s run game, pass protection and tight end usage in the contest.

In the second section of the episode, they look at the keys for Michigan’s defense against the statistically worst offense in the country. They discuss why the Hawkeyes’ offense is worse than even usual, what the Wolverines may be on guard for anyways and make some over-under predictions for that matchup. They also make final score predictions for the game.

Then, in the final third of the show, they take an early peak at Michigan in the transfer portal. They look at the Wolverines’ biggest needs on both sides of the ball, discuss why Michigan could be more aggressive than usual this month and other storylines to watch.

Second time in three years. These two teams have clashed in Indianapolis. Michigan, of course, going for its third straight Big Ten title, put them in

0:23.2

rarefied air, even in Michigan's story history.

0:26.3

Not a ton of three year, four year, five year streaks of Big Ten titles.

0:31.9

I believe the last one was 1988 to 1992.

0:36.0

And part of this is because they didn't used to have a championship game,

0:38.5

but they've never won three straight unshared Big Ten titles.

0:43.6

So they're going for history.

0:45.0

They're also trying to secure their college football playoff spot,

0:49.0

trying to avoid a hangover from their win over Ohio State.

0:53.0

And frankly, with Georgia playing Alabama, Michigan's going for the number one seed.

0:58.6

I feel like whether they're the one seed or the two seed, they'll probably end up in the

1:02.7

Rose Bowl against the Pac-12 team.

1:04.7

Personal thought on that.

1:06.6

But at the same time, you know, being the one seed, being the number one team for the first

1:10.8

time in, what, 26 years?

1:13.6

I'm sure that would be a highlight for the players, a highlight for the fans as well.

1:18.8

Myself, Alejandro, Sam Webb, will be down in Indianapolis providing live coverage from this game.

We've also got lots of preview content heading into this game.

And Steve, in addition to Iowa, we were talking before the show,
