It's not unusual for a piece of legislation that passes through Congress to be a

hefty amount of paper. The Dodd-Frank Act passed after the Great Recession was about 2,000 pages,

and the Affordable Care Act weighed in at a whopping 2,500 pages. And while the Inflation Reduction Act,

which was passed last year, was about a third of that size,

buried in its mountain of paper, is a provision that has pharmaceutical companies so upset

that they're claiming their constitutional rights have been violated.

Understanding how we got here requires a bit of context.
