Summary

It is Big Man Day, both here on the Bucknuts Morning 5 and over at the WHAC following Ohio State's 13th practice of the spring today. The media will interview several of the Buckeyes' offensive and defensive linemen, plus D-line coach Larry Johnson and O-line coach Tyler Bowen.

On today's show, Dave Biddle and Matt Baxendell do a deep dive on OSU's offensive and defensive lines. What do we like? What do we need to see more of?

That is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish.

0:33.6

I'll be joined by Matt Baxendell in just a moment.

0:36.3

Yeah, it's Tax day, but who cares about

0:38.1

that, right? It's Big Man Day for Ohio State. We're going to talk about the offensive line and

0:43.9

defensive line on today's show. Why? Well, number one is that's extremely important, as we all

0:49.4

know, you win the games in the trenches. But we're also meeting with several of the

0:53.6

offensive linemen and

0:54.6

defensive linemen after practice today, probably around 1130, maybe a little bit before then.

0:59.8

Buckeyes were practicing, a little kickoff practice here in about 12 minutes if you're watching

1:03.9

a live show at 9 a.m. So we're going to be interviewing the offensive lineman and defensive linemen

1:08.5

and as well as defensive line coach Larry Johnson and offensive line coach Tyler Bowen. So it is big man day. Usually they split them up. Usually we might have one day that's, you know, just the defensive lineman and one day that's just the offensive lineman, but they made this big man day. So we're making a big man day here on the BM5. Let me bring in backs. Couldn't see you backs on Big Man Day. Happy Big Man D.U as well, sir. It's my favorite day of the week when it comes to football. You know, it's a tax day as well, but as I said in the intro, like, who cares about that? We're not talking about taxes.

1:46.2

All right. You won the toss and you elected to go first. You're going to receive. Do you want to go

1:53.2

O-line or D-line first? I am really interested in going D-line here. Just go D-line. All right.

2:00.3

So we'll just go like, you know, let's talk about like basically the two-deep and how we

2:03.8

think things are going to shake out, just what we think about each position. All right, we know Kenyatta Jackson. We'll start at D-N. You know, Kenyada Jackson is going to be a starter. Dan and I were debating this on Monday's show. I'm curious who you think, if you had a bet,

2:15.3

who do you think is going to be the starter opposite, Kenyatta Jackson?

2:19.0

I'm leaning towards Rousseau, but... So you think, if you had a bet, who do you think is going to be the starter opposite, Kenyatta Jackson?

2:19.1

I'm leaning towards Rousseau, but it's early. I'm leaning towards him right now. I think it's going to be interesting to see, though, because, I mean, you have a lot of new faces in here. You've got some young folks that are coming in on the team as well. I don't know why you're bringing a big name guy from Alabama, though, if you don't believe he is the potential to start. Does that make sense? We're spending money on them. I think their thought process was we hope this guy comes in and steals the job. I'm interested to see if he actually does. So as of right now, he's my number one. Yeah, I'm torn between him and Zion Grady. It might not matter because I think they're both going to play a lot. Well, that's the real answer, probably, Dave. But, you know, I mean, but I'm just torn there. Like, I keep saying Zion Grady, but I won't be surprised if it's Rousseau. Big also can move Quay around a little bit. He's not just a D-N.

3:26.5

Zion Grady playing as much as he did as a true freshman last year just speaks volumes of me, especially toward the end of the year. And you've got the same D-line coach, you've got the same defensive coordinator. It's not like he's like has new coaches that have like, you know, like Arthur Smith taking over the offense taking over. they like Zion Grady, but they like Quay too, obviously.
