The Federal Reserve took a more unusual and aggressive approach lowering the key interest rate by a half percentage point in its first rate cut in

four years. It brings rates to about 4.9%, down from a more than two decade high.

This week's decisions show Central bankers think they've made enough progress bringing

down inflation, getting it to move toward their 2% goal and are now actually trying to

prevent the job market from weakening further. The Fed has been watching the

recent uptick in the unemployment rate but for now indicated the economy is
