You guys opened with AJ Ewing and the kid not only had some great at bats, he also got his first big league hit. So we got to rip through the right side. First big league hit for A.J. Ewing. It goes all the way to the wall. Beatty around second, heading for third. They're going to wave him in. Perez fires in. Beatty's on the way. He scores triple for A.J. Ewing. Seven and two Mets. What a night. And what an introduction for A.J. Ewing.

And that was Keith Rad on Odyssey Mets radio. He had the triple. He walked three times. He scored two runs.

Pretty good opening night for Ewing. The Mets beat the Tigers 10 to as they score the final 10 runs after they went down early 2-0. RBI singles from Carson Benj, Mark Viantos and Luis Terenz, Terenz in Francisco Alvarez, left with a sore knee more on that in a little while. Freddie Peralta pitched well for the win. Here was Ewing on S&Y on the field with Gelbs. So how about that debut?

It's undescribable. It beat every expectation I had, you know, growing up and dreaming of it. And yeah, it was the best day of my life. Now in the clubhouse, he was asked by reporters, what was the best part of the day and night? Probably the win at the end. But just looking around when I got in first base for the first time, that was when it kind of hit. It was very, very real. In terms of the way the crowd

greeted him, multiple standing ovations. I could feel it for sure. Yeah, it's great. The atmosphere

is awesome here. He was talking about the love that he got from the fans all night long, so that was

pretty cool. Here was his manager, Carlos Mendoza, on the debut.

Pretty impressive.

He's just from the very beginning, the first abat, you know, the quality of the abat, the takes, not panicking, just under control.

Worked out, I believe it was a seven-pitch walk to open things up, And so the Mets do get the win in the series opener with Detroit. Now, before the game, you did have David Stearns talk. I know you guys mentioned this. A couple of things here. He was asked about, you know, the decision to sign guys that are often injured, like the Luis Polanco's and the Luis Robert Juniors. Here was Stern's answer to that.

Certainly we know we're taking a level of risk when we bring players in with injury histories.

We're feeling that risk right now, and it hasn't helped that a number of our players have gotten hurt at the
