Big NBA news aside from the Western Conference Finals, the NBA's board of governors voted overwhelmingly on Thursday to change the league's draft lottery format beginning with the 2027 NBA draft.

So starting next year, there's going to be a new system for the lottery.

The new format expands the lottery from 14 to 16 teams, including the eight seed in each conference's playoff picture,

and adds anti-taking measures where the bottom three teams are dealt lesser chances for the number one pick

while flattening odds for teams that do not qualify for the playoffs or the play in tournament.

Got in just under the wire cake.

We snuck it in.

We got the WIS got that tanking done right in time.

And they also will not allow teams to have back-to-back top picks.

So the Wizards would not be able to have the number one.

Now, you would hope that they wouldn't. Right. Wouldn't be that bad where they'd be in able to have the number one. Now, you would hope that they

wouldn't be that bad where they'd be in the mix for the number one pick, but you can't get

back-to-back overall number one picks in drafts. Yeah, the vote was 29 to 1 in favor of the new system.

Oh, yeah. So the teams were clear that they wanted this in place.

Yeah, so the worst three teams leading up to next year had a 14% chance of getting the top

pick.

So Wizards had a 14, I think it was 14.1 or whatever.

Now they have a 5.4% chance.

So it drops 9% the worst three teams.

So you've got a better chance being the fourth to the tenth worst team because now

you've got about an 8% chance of getting the top pick as opposed to the worst three teams,

5.4% chance.
