Summary

New York State has recently started checking for Medicaid enrollment eligibility, which had been on pause during the pandemic emergency. Amir Bassiri, New York State Medicaid director, and Danielle Holahan, NY State of Health executive director, explain why that could mean many lose coverage, plus answer listeners' questions on how to make sure they don't lose coverage for a procedural reason, and what to do if they don't qualify anymore.

1:10.1

18 months, and potentially kicking thousands of people off of their current health plant.

1:15.4

They will also be checking eligibility for people on the essential plan and child health

1:20.1

plus, which are other forms of free public health insurance related to Medicaid.

1:26.6

What I've heard is happening already in other states, and I will share a headline about

1:31.4

that from this morning's news with you in a minute, is that people who do qualify to

1:36.8

continue getting Medicaid health insurance are now sometimes losing that coverage.

1:42.3

Why?

1:43.3

Because they don't know that they have to renew and show their eligibility once again.

1:48.0

We don't want that to happen to anybody here.
