Hello everyone it's Michael Schmer I am so excited to tell you and announce that we are

having for the first time since the pandemic a public event for the Skeptic

Society and Skeptic magazine.

Right here in Santa Barbara, it's the weekend of December 1st through 3rd.

That's Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Friday night.

We're doing an open house right here in the office where I'm recording this.

We have a nice big parking lot, I'm going to have a barbecue truck here, and we're going to hang out

for the entire evening with adult beverages and other things to drink and good food and just

hang out and talk that's Friday night December 1st and then Saturday we've got a

great lineup of speakers first of all I'll be giving a couple of talks on the weekend, a few of my lectures from my course on skepticism 101 that is how to think like a scientist. And then we've got Michael Schoenberger,

who is going to be talking about truth and journalism,

what has happened to journalism over the past several decades,

including his experience working on the Twitter files.

He was given access by Elon to the inside files of what was going on there at

Twitter before Elon bought the company. We've got Dr. Peter Bagozian who's going to be

doing his street epistemology that is where he gets people lined up on a spectrum of

different positions on any particular issue and then see and then

checks to see what it would take for them to move change their position.

What would it take to change your mind?

One of these great questions. I'm going to have him do one on atheism. Most of our people are

probably atheists, so if you're an atheist, what would it take to get you to move one
