Summary

On today’s show, we discuss the Wolves eventually taking care of business in Houston against the Rockets, in a game fueled by elite offense and often non-existent defense. While it wasn’t a well-rounded performance, it was the second consecutive game that all three of Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards have produced in tandem. So we look back at the production of the Big 3 this season and wonder out loud about what level they can get to in the playoffs. — The KAT + Ant + DLo trio’s effectiveness this season compared to other Big 3s — The role of Chris Finch’s ability to relate to the KAT + Ant + DLo as people — The impact of Malik Beasley’s presence around the Big 3 — Jordan McLaughlin now providing shooting in addition to his usual under the radar impact Learn more about your ad choices. This is the Dane Moore MBA podcast brought to by Blue Wire podcast coming at you Sunday night after the wolves beat the Houston Rockets by seven.

0:21.9

Final score Wolves 139, Rockets 132.

0:26.6

A wins a win, but probably a game that shouldn't have been that close.

0:29.7

The wolves did score 80 in the first half, which, you know, against Houston, you'd think

0:34.8

that sort of offensive performance would have led to maybe a little

0:38.6

bit more of a blowout. The wolves were at one point up by 27 in this one, but it was almost as

0:44.9

bad of a defensive performance as it was an excellent offensive game. The thing is, though,

0:51.7

the wolves are scoring at that rate, even if they do play zero defense, that offense is so good that they're going to beat most teams, not just the Houston's.

1:01.7

Like the wolves have this level where they can get to offensively that's just stupid efficient on offense, just scoring at a pace that you can't really keep up with.

1:12.3

And when the wolves are at that level, almost every time they're at that level because all

1:18.3

three of Kat, Ant and DeLo have it going sort of in waves. We saw that against Denver on Friday

1:24.0

when Kat had a 16 point first quarter. DeLo had 22 by halftime, and Ant closed that one out with 14 points in the fourth quarter.

1:33.3

And that one, those three combined for 74 against Denver, and tonight against Houston, they again combined for 83.

1:41.5

And that's 157 total points in two games by three players. Impressive,

1:47.6

an impressive performance by this big three at a time when it's really important for them to be,

1:54.1

you know, getting on track with the playoffs and play in right around the corner. Here's

1:57.8

Chris Finch after tonight's game when asked about how the wolves big three have evolved into a cohesive kind of group as the season has gone along. Here's

2:07.3

Finch. Well, they all have individualized skill set. Obviously, Kat, you know, being a big, he's,

2:12.2

you know, super skilled, plays like a small and do everything. You know, Delo's passing and playmaking and shooting, obviously, and

2:19.8

you know, has the ability to like play, you know, get us ISO buckets and get to the hoop.

2:25.1

So I think that's, there's enough.
