Well, the Big 12 baseball tournament is getting underway this week. I can't believe it. The regular season's over. The postseason is about to get started. Of course, we are days away from selecting the teams and finding out who from the big 12 is going to be in the field of 64. No one does a better job, especially this time of year than Kendall Rogers.

D1Baseball.com is, of course, where you find them doing tremendous work covering the entire sport of college baseball.

0:32.5

So Kendall, let's just look at this big tournament right now.

1:28.9

If you're looking at the top of this league and the top of this tournament, KU is the one seat, obviously, and then you've got West Virginia as that too. Do you look at those two as like the heavy favorites or is there somewhere else you would go when trying to project how this week might play out in Arizona? Yeah, I mean, I think that would be the favorites. I mean, I think the other team for me that is very much top of mind now is Oklahoma State. I think if you look at the way the, you know, the Polks kind of played down the stretch, you know, in the conference portion of the schedule, the way that, you know, the offense, you know, really played down the stretch. You look at, you know, guys like Ethan Lund, I think on the mound, have elite potential. So I think Oklahoma State, especially in that warm environment out there where the ball can really carry. Oklahoma State is kind of top of mind. But, yeah, I mean, if you look at Kansas and West Virginia, I mean, obviously, you've got to be pretty bullish on West Virginia, right? I mean, they played really well over the past, you know, the past, you know, i think one of those three teams you know for me uh would be the favorite and i think anybody outside

1:33.8

of that would probably be a little bit of a surprise what about the speaking of surprise

1:38.5

this tournament being in surprise arizona yeah how about that what yeah i like what you did there

1:43.2

um what what do you make of that for

1:46.5

the big 12 and whether or not you think this is something that has legs to it long term? Yeah, I mean,

1:52.7

you know, kind of look at the weather, you know, the one thing we'll always kind of look at this

1:56.8

time of year in Arizona or the temperatures. I mean, 92 and dry, 94 and dry, 95 in dry. I mean, that's not that bad. So, you know, the one thing I do know is the guys who, you know, put on those tournaments there, you know, the Red Entertainment guys and the Rangers, they do a really good job at that. You know, if you go look at, you know, earlier in the season, when surprise has those tournaments with Oregon State and

2:17.8

whatnot, uh, that ballpark is always packed. So the city does a really nice job. Uh, and I do think,

2:23.6

you know, having good crowds and not being in a major league park, I think is beneficial. But I don't

2:29.2

know about you, but, you know, I've covered the big total tournament before. And it's awesome

2:33.3

baseball, but you know, after about two days of being in the, you know, a really quiet, you know, I've covered the big total tournament before. And it's awesome baseball, but, you know, after about two days of being in, you know, a really quiet, you know, massive ballpark, you know, you don't really feel like you're at a college baseball game. You kind of feel like you're at a tournament in January. So, I like the smaller ballpark aspect. And again, I think it would only be beneficial for like a team like Arizona State to,

3:09.8

you know, go on a run and, you know, be in a situation where they're playing a Saturday night game against WVU or Kansas or something like that. So I kind of like it. I mean, obviously, you know, if it was two weeks later and it was 107 degrees, you don't want to be there. But man, you know, At night right now, surprise, it says, what, 68 and sunny?

3:09.8

Hard to beat that for some college games. and seven degrees you don't want to be there. But man, you know, at night right now, surprise, it says, what, 68 and sunny?

3:11.9

Hard to beat that for some college baseball.

3:14.9

Well, I'm glad you brought that up because I agree.

3:17.8

Global Life Field, I mean, it looks like a great facility.

3:18.7

It is a great facility.

3:23.2

But it just comes off cavernous for this time of year.

3:25.7

And I don't think it works. Is there somewhere else that is more maybe centrally located that you think would be able to supply what surprise
